大漠英雄 千古胡杨
胡杨是世界上最古老的一种杨树，是第三纪残余的古老树种，距今约有300万年至600万年的历史。胡杨有着“活一千年不死、死一千年不倒、倒一千年不朽”的说法，其耐旱耐涝，生命力顽强。我国境内的胡杨主要分布在新疆、内蒙古、青海等地的沙漠地带，素有“大漠英雄树”的美称。但在柴达木盆地，由于持续干旱，荒漠化面积增加，许多胡杨逐渐干枯。胡杨因其叶形多变又称异叶杨，是十种唯一能在干旱沙漠中生长的古老乔木树种。其树形优美，幼叶叶形似柳。有的防风沙、抗盐碱等特性。胡杨生长期漫长，由于风沙和干旱的影响，很多胡杨树造型奇特诡异。全世界的胡杨绝大部分生长在中国，而中国百分之九十以上的胡杨林又生长在塔河流域，沿流域呈走廊状分布的35.2万公顷胡杨林，是目前世界上面积最大、分布最广的原始胡杨林。
胡杨叶生长要经历一个很奇特的过程，最初生长出的是嫩绿的柳树叶，长大后，柳树叶变成杨树叶，直到成熟，杨树叶才生长为了宽大的胡杨树叶，这充分显示了胡杨树对大自然极强的适应性。胡杨树一般生长三十年后，树芯变空，重量减轻，使胡杨树枯死后不易被风刮倒，干旱的沙漠天气也让胡杨树很难腐烂。胡杨林耐盐碱、耐干旱，不怕酷热严寒，对抗着沙漠的侵袭。每到秋季，层林尽染，黄叶霜透，一片金色。
在沙漠中，眼前的景象，彷彿我們回到了中古世纪，內心的震撼，不得不佩服“胡楊”得毅力与坚忍精神。
